Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program

Now that it is funded, the program will establish competitive grants that strategically invest in projects that connect active transportation networks and spines, accelerating local and regional plans to create safe and convenient walking and biking routes to everyday destinations and to fill gaps in trails between communities.
Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grants

The 2024 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grants Program is now open! This multimodal, multijurisdictional competitive grant program administered by the USDOT has provided robust funding for active transportation projects in previous cycles.
Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP), Ohio

The Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) provides funding for projects defined as transportation alternatives, including on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities, infrastructure projects for improving non-driver access to public transportation and enhanced mobility, community improvement activities, and environmental mitigation; recreational trail program projects; and safe routes to school projects.

Greenways Foundation Grants, Indiana
Rolling Applications:
GFI will provide matching funding and other forms of support to 501(c)(3) organizations to accomplish projects which protect, enhance, preserve or develop areas throughout Indiana for enjoyment and use by the public. We expect the applicant will have matching funds and our grant will fund 50% or less of the entire project.
Clean Ohio Trail Fund

The Clean Ohio Trail Fund (COTF) seeks to improve outdoor recreational opportunities for Ohioans by funding trails for outdoor pursuits of all kinds.
Recreational Trails Program, Ohio
Deadline: Mar. 15, 2024
This is a reimbursement grant program that provides up-to-80 percent project funding. The following projects are eligible:
New recreational trail construction
Trail maintenance/restoration
Trailside and trailhead facilities
Acquisition of easements and property for recreational trails and recreational trail corridors
Educational programs promoting trail safety and environmental protection
Indiana Trail Program
Next call for applications in Fall of 2025
The Indiana Trails Program is a new trails program that will replace the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) in 2021. The new ITP program will be similar to Indiana’s former RTP and will still be administered by the Department of Natural Resources Division of Outdoor Recreation. The main difference is that funds for ITP will now be state dollars rather than federal funds.
Recreational Trails Program, Kentucky

The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). It can be used to provide assistance for acquisition of easements, development and/or maintenance of recreational trails and trailhead facilities for both motorized and non-motorized use. The Recreational Trails Program benefits communities and enhances quality of life.
Rivers, Trails, & Conservation Assistance Program

The National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails, & Conservation Assistance Program (NPS-RTCA) welcomes applications from community groups, nonprofit organizations, tribal governments, national parks, and local, state and federal agencies. NPS-RTCA does not provide financial assistance or monetary grants. As a collaborative partner, we provide professional services to help you achieve your conservation and outdoor recreation project vision.
Land and Water Conservation Fund, Ohio

The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant program provides up to 50% reimbursement assistance for state and local government subdivisions (townships, villages, cities, counties, park districts, joint recreation districts, and conservancy districts) for the acquisition, development, and rehabilitation of recreational areas.

The LWCF provides federal grant funds to protect important natural areas, acquire land for outdoor recreation and to develop or renovate public outdoor recreation facilities such as campgrounds, picnic areas, sports & playfields, swimming facilities, boating facilities, fishing facilities, trails, natural areas and passive parks.
