5th Annual Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo

The 5th Annual Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo returns to Coney Island on Thursday, June 24, 2010! This years Kids Expo will be on its own day prior to the 9th annual Ohio River Paddlefest. The Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo is FREE and open to organized groups as well as the public.

This day of fun, excitement and learning is presented by the Hamilton County Park District, in cooperation with The Ohio River Way, Duke Energy, General Electric, Cincy After Schools, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Cincinnati Parks and the ORSANCO Education Foundation. With 3,000 children expected to participate this year, the Kids Expo has become the largest outdoor water safety and environmental education program for children in the Midwest. It’s a unique opportunity to spark the interest of children in the world of nature while enhancing their academic achievement in science, technology, math and engineering. Through exhibits, presentations and hands-on activities, the event is designed to engage, educate and entertain while helping children learn what they can do to protect the environment.

The Kids Expo will be two sessions: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Each session will feature dozens of hands-on activities, exhibits and presentations to engage children’s interest in the natural world around them. Children will also be able to paddle a canoe on Coney Island’s Lake Como with members of the US Marine Corps as guides and certified lifeguards keeping an eye out for safety! Kids will get to interact with live animals, climb aboard ORSANCO’s PA Denny floating laboratory on the Ohio River, learn about different kinds of alternative energy with Cincinnati State, enjoy engaging science presentations by Michelle White sponsored by the Scholastic/Duke Energy K-12 Energy Efficiency Program, tour ODNR’s patrol boat and much, much more!
