Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati Launch of Team River Runner
Lake Como at Coney Island
Friday, June 25, 9 -11 amOn Friday, June 25 join Team River Runner at 9 am on Lake Como at Coney Island to help launch the Northern KY/Cincinnati chapter of Team River Runner.
Team River Runner (TRR), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, gives active duty servicemembers and veterans an opportunity to find health, healing, and new challenges through whitewater boating and other paddling sports. The benefits of TRR have as much to do with creating a social network and support system as they do with learning water sports skills that provide an exciting adventure lifestyle that suddenly seemed lost due to injury. The program also encourages family members to participate whenever possible.
TRR is a national volunteer organization with chapters across the country. TRR accomplishes its goals through a step-by-step approach in which paddlers begin learning to control a whitewater kayak in a pool, and then move to quiet open water and where available, open ocean and river, where they gain additional experience and skills. Once they have mastered the basics, they are then able to go on TRR organized trips to more progressively challenging venues. Admission is free and open to the public, but there will be a modest charge this year for parking.
